Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
Arrange the diced mango at the bottom of a square 23 cm (9 inch) mould.
In a bowl, using a mixer, mix the butter or margarine and the sugar until creamy and fluffy. Add the egg and mix for a few seconds.
In a bowl, sift the flour and the baking powder.
Using a wooden spoon, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the yogourt. Mix until the batter is homogenous but no more.
Pour the batter onto the mango.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until you can insert a toothpick in the middle of the cake and it comes out completely dry.
De-mould the cake by turning into onto a serving dish, with the fruit on top. Serve hot or cold, topped with mango yogurt, if desired.
To vary this dessert, use fruits other than mango and a different yogourt flavour. A few suggestions: small fruits and fieldberry yogurt, peaches and nectarine yogurt, and so forth. Use your imagination!
